Water is a valuable resource that is becoming increasingly threatened as the demands of the community increase.

Did you know?

 - Of all water consumed in the home, approximately 10% is attributed to water use in the kitchen.

 - Of all water consumed in the home, about 15 - 20% is used into the laundry. This high utility room is major consumer of not only water, but also energy and detergents.

 - The bathroom and toilet are water consumption hot spots. Of all water consumed in the home, about 40% is used in the bathroom and toilet.

 - The average garden hose delivers 1,000 litres of water an hour!

User Pays Water Pricing

Orange City Council introduced User Pays Water Pricing on 1 July 2002. This was as a result of a State Government directive already adopted by most councils and aimed at conserving water and making more efficient use of resources.

Best Practice Water Pricing also means Council will be eligible for financial assistance from the State Government for major capital water supply works.

You can  monitor your water usage simply by reading your water meter on a regula basis. By checking your meter regularly, you can keep a record of how much water you are using.
