The Orange Regional Conservatorium is a non-profit community based organisation located in Central NSW.

It was born when the Orange Music Association (established in 1989) and Orange Symphony Orchestra merged in 2000 for the purpose of creating more efficient use of limited physical and artistic resources in regional NSW.

The ORC's core business is its "Lifelong Learning" tuition program, which it offers to students of all ages and stages.
In the areas of strings, woodwind, brass, percussion or keyboard. students receive a level of music education equivalent to their metropolitan counterparts.

Over 300 musicians perform in ensemble activity resulting in annual community concerts at which professional, student and amateur musicians enrich the cultural life of the region and gain valuable experience through exposure of their talents.

The performers are from the Orange Symphony Orchestra, Orange Youth Orchestra, Orange Conservatorium Youth Choir, Orange Regional Conservatorium Choir, Junior String Ensemble, Conservatorium Brass Ensemble, Orange Beat Percussion Ensemble, Orange Conservatorium Wind Ensemble, Orange Brass Quintet, Orange Chamber Choir, Orange Concert Band and the Encore (Adult Recreational) Ensemble.

Orange Regional Conservatorium has spread its wings with the aid of technology, and in partnership with Telstra Countrywide, by supplying tuition to students in West Wyalong and Wilcannia.
Another music business partnership has developed with the environmentally conscious company Belgravia, which is now supporting a number of the ORC music events throughout the year.

Our Concerts Program includes the Music in the Gardens series at the Orange Botanic Gardens, the Hear it on the Grape Vine series - a collaborative venture with the Orange Regional Vignerons Association, Toddler's Proms, Senior's Concerts and emerging performers showcase concerts.

Former Orange Regional Conservatorium students who have been awarded a Margaret Henderson Scholarship for advanced and talented students perform in the showcase concert "Symphony in Winter" annually in June.

The Orange Regional Conservatorium adds value to many of the music programs offered by the NSW Department of Education. At present the ORC assists by sending in highly trained professional musicians to fifteen (15) schools to develop ensemble programs.

Information on tuition programs, performance schedules and hire of ensembles (student and professional) is available by contacting the ORC office on 02 5310 2409 or by emailing admin@orangecon.org.au
