Sport

Orange's recreation and sporting facilities are second to none.

Whether you are interested in swimming, horse riding, golf, athletics, tennis, bowls, BMX or sailing Orange has the facilities for you.  Lake Canobolas is a popular location for families and couples as they can relax and take in the beauty of the area from a number of different picnic areas,  play with the kids or enjoy the water sports available on the Lake such as swimming, fishing, canoeing or sailing.  With a kiosk on site, lunch and morning tea are taken care of.

Orange is blessed with a number of beautiful parks and gardens.  Cook Park is the most famous.  Established in 1873 Cook Park takes up an entire city block and features a begonia house, sunken garden, bird aviary, duck pond, arts and crafts shop and a magnificent array of trees and plants.  Robertson Park and the Orange Botanic Gardens also provide a delightful place to visit and relax while open days are held throughout the year where visitors have the chance to appreciate magnificent showcase gardens which are located throughout the city.

Horse riding is popular in Orange with trails at Mt Canobolas.  Hire a bike and cycle through the scenic countryside, or tap a lap in a  kart at the Orange Kart Raceway.  For those with a few extra dollars, regular turf meetings are held at Orange's Towac Park and harness and greyhound meetings are also held with racing under lights.

For the golfer Orange is heaven with three excellent 18 hole courses located within 10 minutes of each other.  Wentworth Golf Club, Orange Golf Club (Duntryleague) and Orange Ex Services Country Club offer visitors well maintained courses that challenge players of all standards.

Bowlers are also well catered for and enjoy an array of clubs that make visitors very welcome.  Orange is also home to a number of great sporting fields that host rugby league, soccer, rugby union, softball and cricket.  Indoor sports are also catered for through an Indoor Sports Centre, Tennis and Squash Centres, Ten Pin Bowling, Fitness Centres and Gymnasiums and Swimming Pools.
