At the base of Mount Canobolas lies the Lake Canobolas Reserve, which is a major attraction for visitors and residents alike.

The lake is ideal for swimming and canoeing. It has playgrounds, BBQ facilities, a cafe, picnic areas, walking tracks and an historic pump house.
The lake is regularly stocked with trout species making it a fisherman's delight.
Dogs are permitted within the Lake Canobolas Reserve environment but must be on a lead, and under control at all times.

Future of Lake Canobolas
After liaison with the community, user groups and expert consultants, Orange City Council has produced a Master Plan to guide the future development of Lake Canobolas.

Sports on the Lake
The Lake is regularly the venue for sporting events such as the Central West Dragon Boat Regatta.
There are two dragonboating clubs in Orange which train regularly at the Lake.
The Lake is also the venue for triathalon races run by the Orange Triathalon and Cycle Club.
