Mayor calls on business to have their say
“There’s been a lot of talk among the business community about what might happen when a major employer like Electrolux closes its doors in a few years’ time,” Cr John Davis said.
“That decision is undoubtedly bad news for a slice of the community, but the City Council isn’t waiting around feeding the feelings of ‘doom–and-gloom’. There’s a lot that can be done to discover the new opportunities and the City Council’s Job Creation Strategy will be a step in the right direction.”
Mayor Davis said the council wants to hear how it could cooperate better with the business community.
“The Council is genuinely interested in hearing what the obstacles are to local traders growing their businesses. We’ve had a number of forums where we’ve heard from particular sectors of the local economy and we’re now looking at some very practical suggestions,” John Davis said. “This survey opens up the conversation even wider so we can hear from even more business people.”
