Information about the work of Orange City Council, located in the Central West of NSW

Orange Rail Action Group

The Orange Rail Action Group (ORAG) was established as a community-based committee by Orange City Council with the objective of improving access to faster and more efficient rail transport between Orange and the Central West region, and Sydney.

Acheiving this objective will will improve inter-regional and intra-regional travel for family, tourist, business, educational and medical purposes. Such improvements have been clearly demonstrated in Regional Victoria following VicRail investment in railway track upgrade and new efficient passenger rolling stock in the last decade.

To work towards this goal, the City Council established the Orange Rail Action Group consisting of community representatives, council staff and chaired by Cr Neil Jones. Current members include Dr Peter Bilenkji, Phil Stevenson, Doug Brooks, David Williams, Denis Gregory, Colin Spicer, Geoff Bargwanna and Ian McIvor.
