Aquatic Centre ~ Construction time-line

The new $8.2 million Orange Aquatic Centre was constructed on the site next to the outdoor 50m pool, beginning in 2011. The new facility includes :

  • an indoor heated 25-metre eight lane pool
  • an indoor leisure pool
  • tiered seating for 200
  • a new indoor café area
  • additional parking
  • new change rooms
  • upgraded entry

Mayor John Davis and Senator Matt Thistlethwaite unveiled the plaque to officially open the new Aquatic Centre on 25 October, 2012. This video captures some of the colour of the day.

Construction on the Indoor Aquatic Centre was well under way in April 2011

The small indoor leisure pool was opened on 10 March 2012.

The first swimmers started using the 25m pool in August 2012.
