In this very special event, Orange Civic Theatre presents William Yang, Australia’s foremost, internationally-renowned storyteller, in his captivating work The Story Only I can Tell.

Over the past twenty-five years William has invented a way of telling stories using projected images and spoken word. Although the process is simple, the results are engaging, audiences are involved and moved by his performances.

Born to Chinese Australian parents he grew up on a tobacco farm in North Queensland. William always felt he did not fit in. He felt Australian but looked Chinese. HIs journey was to find his Australian Chinese identity, and this story has resonated with Australians who are mostly immigrants of some sort. William has since become an award-winning photographer, filmmaker and storyteller, and his works have been presented all over the world.

In the lead up to the performance William will be working with a small group of local residents, helping them to craft their own stories of place with words and photos. These stories will be shared on stage, as an entree to this evening.

Truly a one-off evening — not to be missed.
