A busy north Orange intersection at the corner of Anson St and Matthews Ave will close on Monday as work begins on a major upgrade.

Weather permitting, the corner will be closed to traffic from 7am on Monday 7 January.

Drivers are being encouraged to leave time to use alternative routes around the area.

Detour signs will be in place taking traffic through either Phillip Street, Peisley Street, Sale Street, Fox Avenue or Margaret Street.

The area nearby the intersection will be able to be accessed by residents only, and signs will be in place.

The timetable for the project has the corner blocked to traffic for three weeks until Friday 25 January, while work begins to construct a raised traffic platform across the whole intersection, a traffic safety feature that’s only being used for the second time in Orange.
