Australian Breastfeeding Assoc. Orange Morning Tea

By | | No Comments

Welcome to Australian Breastfeeding Association Morning Tea Friday’s in Orange for 2020!

Every second Friday, join our local ABA group for a free morning tea catch-up, including a hot cuppa and discussion about breastfeeding and parenting (see Facebook or below for topic listing). We normally have a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor available so bring along any questions for a confidential discussion if you wish.

October, November and December 2020 topics:

  • 2nd October – Breastfeeding in the Early Days
  • 16th October – Baby Wearing
  • 30th October – Expressing and Storing Breastmilk
  • 13th November – Baby’s Development: What You Need to Know
  • 27th November – Breastfeeding and Alcohol
  • 11th December – Baby Clothing Swap! Bring your secondhand baby goods

We open at 10 am and our discussion starts at 10.30, but we understand that little people don’t run on a schedule, so please come and leave when you need to. Bring along the kids, both big and small, our toddler area helps to entertain busy little people.

As we are volunteer based, any help to bring some light morning tea is much appreciated, but certainly not expected (no nuts please).

Please note that if you are attending the Bowling Club just for the ABA morning tea you do not need to be a member of the Bowling Club.

In Conversation With Author James Bradley: Zoom Webinar

By | | No Comments

James Bradley is the author of four novels – Wrack, The Deep Field, The Resurrectionist and Clade, and a book of poetry, Paper Nautilus. His books have won or been shortlisted for a number of major Australian and international literary awards and have been widely translated.

As part of this free live, online author talk, James will discuss with you his latest book Ghost Species. This Zoom Webinar is a collaboration between NSW Public Libraries including Central West Libraries. The conversation will be facilitated by Amy Heap, Outreach and Promotions Co-ordinator, Riverina Regional Library.

Set against the backdrop of hastening climate catastrophe, Ghost Species is an exquisitely beautiful and deeply affecting exploration of connection and loss in an age of planetary trauma. When scientist Kate Larkin joins a secretive project to re-engineer the climate by resurrecting extinct species, she becomes enmeshed in another, even more clandestine program to recreate our long-lost relatives, the Neanderthals. But when the first of the children, a girl called Eve, is born, Kate finds herself torn between her duties as a scientist and her urge to protect their time-lost creation. For as Eve grows to adulthood she and Kate must face the question of who and what she is. Is she natural or artificial? Human or non-human? And perhaps most importantly, as civilisation unravels around them, is Eve the ghost species, or are we? Thrillingly original, Ghost Species is embedded with a deep love and understanding of the natural world.
