Learn to Swim lessons set to resume under COVIDSafe plan

Following the reopening of the 25m indoor pool, Learn to Swim (LTS) lessons and Social Squads training will resume at the Orange Aquatic Centre in a week’s time.

Orange City Council and staff at the Orange Aquatic Centre have put the following procedures in place that fall into line with Government regulations in a bid to reduce crowding and limit the risk of infection while the centre is in operation, to keep pool users safe.

Previous Learn to Swim class times have been cancelled. Parents must now call to book a place for their children. Cost: $13.20 per class, additional siblings enrolled in same term $11.90.

  • Learn to Swim Levels 4, 5, 6,7 to start Monday 31 August

-Level 4: 30 minute classes at 4pm and 4:45pm, weekday afternoons

-Level 5: 30 minute classes at 4pm and 4:45pm, weekday afternoons

-Level 6: 45 minute class at 4pm, weekday afternoons

-Level 7: 45 minute class at 4pm, weekday afternoons

 

  • Social Squads (new program trial) to start Monday 31 August

-Monday and Wednesday 5:10pm-6:50pm

-Trial option for children (teenagers and young adults) who can swim competently in all 4 strokes. Initial 4 week trial that comes with an entry cost to the centre. Memberships or fitness passports can be used. Bookings are essential.

 

School age and preschool Learn to Swim classes will also resume in the leisure pool in two weeks’ time, commencing Monday 7 September.

-Weekday afternoons

-Levels 1 – 3

-All classes 30 minutes.

-Class times: 3:30pm, 4:15pm, 5pm and 5:45pm

 

  • Preschool classes in the leisure pool to resume Monday 7 September

-Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings

-All classes 30 minutes

-Levels available: Aqua Babies, Aqua Tots, Preschool 1 and Preschool 2

-Class times: 9:15am, 10am, 10:45am and 11:30am

 

Parents, carers and participants are asked to not attend the centre if they have any cold and flu like symptoms to keep in line with recommendations from Health authorities. Parents must report to the deck supervisor on arrival and sign in.

Parents, carers and participants are asked to arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to your lesson, and exit the facility within 10 minutes after the class has finished. There will be limited change room and shower space available. Please bring children ready to swim.

If a child is unable to attend their lesson due to illness, fees will be credited if Aquatic Centre staff are notified prior.

Sanitiser will be available at the front door and on pool deck. Orange Aquatic Center staff will be enforcing social distancing measures and a restriction of one caregiver per family will be enforced.  Exceptions can be made for large families, please contact the centre to discuss if you have concerns.

There is a 15 minute buffer between the end of one lesson and the start of the next to allow for cleaning, which includes hard surfaces. All toys and aids will be changed between classes, and disinfected prior to being reused.

There will be no social swimming during Learn to Swim lessons. Limited lap swimming will continue.

All Learn to Swim lessons cancelled earlier in the year due to COVID-19 have been granted account credits for the lessons affected.  Families who wish not to return to Learn to Swim can request a refund by emailing aquatic@orange.nsw.gov.au
