‘The Orange Podcast’ is the newest online information service being delivered by Orange City Council staff for the Orange community touching on a wide range of issues, large scale projects and general information that appeals to local residents.
Orange City Council has teamed up with local producing company ‘The Little Podcast Co.’ directed by Kyle and Holly Manning, to bring the podcast to life.
Each week, either Kyle or Holly sit down to chat with Council staff ranging from the CEO to Water and Sewer Engineers, who chat about relevant community topics to keep residents of Orange informed on local news that affects them.
Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said this is the perfect way for Orange City Council to engage with local residents through a different medium.
“The Orange Podcast is the perfect way for Council and its staff to communicate with locals, in a different way,” Cr Kidd said.
“The podcast gives residents the chance to keep up to date with what is happening around town, and within Council but in a way that isn’t just your usual post on social media or online article.”
CONVERSATION: The Little Podcast Co’s Kyle Manning and Council staffer, Ian Greenham, sit down to discuss all things water for the latest episode of ‘The Orange Podcast.’
Orange City Council’s CEO David Waddell said he believes this is a simple but engaging way to ensure Council and the community on kept the same page.
“So far there are 7 weekly episodes on our platform that cover a number of different topics such as water, development applications, COVID-19 and many more,” Mr Waddell said.
“We’ve got 150 downloads since we started, and we’re now averaging between thirty five to fifty listeners.
“I encourage everyone within our community to take a listen to our podcasts and check back in every Monday morning to hear the latest from Council. They only go for 5-10 minutes, but touch on some really interesting topics that are always relevant to what the community want to know.
“We’re hoping that as we move forward with this new venture, the community will continue to support and give us ideas on what they think they’d like to know more about so we can cover that in an episode.
