Council to ask for more information on parking and traffic impact of Lords Place
Orange City Council will engage a specialist consultant to provide options to manage possible parking changes in the Lords Place South precinct, before making a decision on putting a proposed upgrade of the area on exhibition.
TRAFFIC IMPACT: Councillors voted to seek more information on parking and traffic flows in Lords Place.
The consultant will look at options such as changes to time limits in the Ophir Car Park and nearby streets, and options for short stay parking of 5, 10 or 15 minutes in Lords Place.
Council will also look at what the proposed changes might mean to traffic flows in the precinct.
Last night’s council meeting considered a report on preliminary talks with local businesses that operate in the block.
Recycling charges to Council to increase
Orange City Council will pay more to send its recyclable waste to a specialist sorting company in Sydney.
Currently Visy charges Council $105 a tonne to receive recycled waste. Last night’s meeting heard an increase to $107 a tonne will cost the council an estimated extra $6000 annually.
Orange to take motions to local government conference
Orange City Council will take a number of motions for debate at this year NSW Local Government Conference.
Last night’s meeting decided to propose motions about:
- Proposed changes that would allow Councils to enforce higher water energy efficiency standards on new homes.
- A proposal asking the state government to release a percentage of government-owned land around NSW for social and affordable housing
- A proposal to ask the state government to let Councils introduce new regulations to keep pet cats inside at night.
