Orange Regional Museum

Opened in 2016, Orange Regional Museum is an award-winning museum dedicated to sharing engaging exhibitions and diverse public programs for audiences of all ages. Orange Regional Museum interprets objects of significance for our local history and the history of the broader Central West region.

Located in a striking purpose-built building within the vibrant Orange cultural precinct, the Museum is a locus for visitors and local audiences alike. Orange Regional Museum showcases long-term and temporary local history exhibitions alongside a program of the best travelling exhibitions from across Australia, presenting diverse topics including history, science, technology and culture.

All objects have stories and by doing a little bit of research it is possible to uncover fascinating details which give meaning and insight to even the most mundane items.

The first two pages of this child’s French language text book provide links to the unique stories of the owners, retailer and author of the book. The stories behind the people linked to the text book provide a richness and depth to an otherwise unremarkable object.

Venue Information

Open 9am-4pm daily (closed 25 December).

Entry to the Museum is free. Group visits are welcome, but please contact us to make a booking for groups of 10 or more.

Facilities

Bathrooms, including disabled and baby changing facilities, are available on site.

Parking is available in front of the Museum on Byng Street and in the Council carpark accessed from Lords Place. Larger vehicles (including buses) can find parking on Peisley Street.

Accessibility

Orange Regional Museum is fully accessible for prams and wheelchairs. A courtesy wheelchair is available for use.
