Plans of management were prepared for Council land classified as community land in the 1990’s following the inception of the Local Government Act 1993. These plans were initially produced on a suburb basis. Amendments to legislation in 1998 made by the Local Government Amendment (Community Land Management) Act 1998 and changes caused by the passage of time have required Council to prepare new Plans of Management for all land classified as “community”.
A Plan of Management under the Local Government Act 1993 can only be made for land which is defined as public land (the definition excludes land to which the Crown Lands Act 1999 applies). Public land is also required to be classified as “community land” under the Act.
