Alive And Creating Art Exhibition

This year during Autumn, Colour City Creatives will be collaborating with the local entrepreneurial legends Gaye and Borry to mount an exhibition in their expansive cellar door space at Borrodell. Tim Winters a world renowned painter and print maker will be opening the Alive And Creating exhibition.
Come and meet the artists, enjoy the glorious view at Borrodell and if you’re peckish after the opening, the Sisters Rock Restaurant is only across the courtyard and has splendorous food!

Colour City Creatives is a self-run cooperative of Orange and surrounds and consists of painters, weavers, video artists, poets, photographers, glass artists, clay artists and sculptors. They’re a wonderful group of local artists who love to share what inspires them because they find living here Artspirational and really enjoy this thing called, life.

Orange Regional Gallery – An Evening with the Collection

Join us at the Gallery for an evening of art, wine, and music. Learn more about the Orange Regional Gallery Collection and hear how the generosity of the Friends of Orange Regional Gallery contributes to new acquisitions.

See for yourself why our collection is so highly regarded as Gallery Director, Brad Hammond guides you through our current exhibition ‘Collection Highlights’.

The Orange Regional Conservatorium will also be represented by it’s Chamber Music Academy. This ensemble, featuring emerging musicians, sponsored by Godfrey Turner Memorial Music Trust, will provide a short performance of their current program.

This event is a fundraiser for the Friends of Orange Regional Gallery, with all proceeds going towards the purchase of new works for the collection.

Entry fee is $20 ($15 FORG members) payable at the door.
Refreshments included.

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – THE SEA – Drop-in Family Workshop

Families are invited to drop into our activity space and explore the theme of The Sea through hands-on art-making activities. Make a mysterious deep sea creature to add to our collaborative installation. Stay for five minutes or fifty – it’s up to you! Please note that this is a self-guided activity. An art educator will be available to assist during session times but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Thursday 23 and Friday 24 January

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – BRILLIANT BUGS AND BEETLES – with Cecilie Knowles

Young artists will create their own mixed media bugs and beetles in this creative workshop that explores, colour, pattern, and texture. Children will use reference images and their imagination to draw their beetles and bugs before adding colour and detail using metallic paper, crayon, paint and sparkle ink. This workshop includes a mini tour of Bill Moseley: A Lake, a Forest and the Dark Voice of the Sea and Ros Auld: Adventures in Ceramics for inspiration.

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – THE FOREST, Drop-in Family Workshop

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – MYSTERIOUS CLAY SEA CREATURES with Cecilie Knowles

Young artists will create their own mystical deep sea creatures in this playful workshop that explores, pattern shape and texture in clay. Children will use reference images and their imagination to draw their creature before transferring it onto clay. This workshop includes a mini tour of Bill Moseley: A Lake, a Forest and the Dark Voice of the Sea and Ros Auld: Adventures in Ceramics for inspiration.

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – DAYS OF SUMMER – Lino with Laretta Goodacre

Taking inspiration from Salvatore Zofrea’s lively lino print exhibition Days of Summer young artists will learn to prepare, cut and print lino blocks of their own. Students will experiment with different techniques to add colour and texture to their work and create their own set of limited edition prints to take home. This workshop includes a mini tour of Salvatore Zofrea: Days of Summer.

GALLERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – SUN PRINTS with Cecilie Knowles

Inspired by Bill Moseley’s exhibition A Lake, a Forest and the Dark Voice of the Sea this workshop introduces young artists to the vintage photographic process of cyanotype—a simple, safe (and slightly magical) process that harnesses the power of the sun. Starting with a mini tour of the exhibition, students will learn about the artist’s ideas and processes before heading back to the studio to create their own series of beautiful blue photograms.

Ages: 6+ from 10am – 12pm
Ages: 11+ from 1pm – 3pm
