Amazing Space Sliders: School Holiday Workshop

Amazing Space Sliders: A space art workshop for kids (age 5-12 yrs)  

Tuesday 29 June, 10 am – noon

Ages: 5+ FREE

Learn all about Australia in the space age on our special guided tour for children. Then make your very own space scene to take home.

Young artists fascinated by space imagery will love building their own intergalactic artwork. This kinetic space scene contains moveable rockets, spaceships and astronauts.

A range of art materials will be available for space slider making.

This is a FREE event; bookings are essential.

All children must be signed in/out by a parent/guardian.

In conjunction with the exhibition Out of This World: Australia in the space age. A national touring exhibition developed and presented by the National Archives of Australia.

Our events are impacted by Covid-19 guidelines in the following ways:

If you are sick, please do not attend, as you could endanger all Museum visitors.

Hand sanitisers must be used upon entry.

Social distancing guidelines of 1.5m must be respected.

Please sign in with the QR code or with Ipad upon entry of the visitor centre.

• Children’s medical and allergy information must be disclosed upon registration.

• Bookings must be made by parent/guardian.

• Separate bookings must be made for each child attending.

• Children under the age of 12 will need to be signed in and out by a parent/guardian/authorised adult.

• Attendees at this event may be photographed/recorded with such images/footage being used for promotional purposes by Orange Regional Museum and Orange City Council on websites, social media, and in newspapers. Please indicate permission upon registration.

AMEB Workshops

Orange Regional Conservatorium are holding AMEB workshops for students who would like a little more practice before the big exam. There are multiple different workshops focusing on, Performance, Aural, General Knowledge and Sight Reading.

LEGO Club at Orange Library – School Holiday Workshop

Roll up, roll up! Step right this way, for a thrilling LEGO club in the library!

These holidays in LEGO club we will be creating the ultimate amusement park.  THINK: Rip-roaring roller coasters! Spine-tingling ghost trains! Delectable Dagwood Dogs! Mouth-watering fairy floss!  Come and join us as we work together to design and build the Amazing, the One-and-Only, Orange City Library Amusement Park – all in LEGO!

We are running two sessions of this activity:

  • Monday 28 June 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Thursday 1 July 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm

Please only book each child into one of these sessions, as numbers are limited.

This activity is designed for children aged 6 and over.  Tickets available for registration Monday 21 June 2021 at 7:00pm

UpStage Music Theatre Workshop

UpStage returns to Orange! Following the success of last year’s  Orange Regional Conservatorium in collaboration with UpStage NSW is excited to welcome back the UpStage Musical Theatre Workshop.
This year, our Faculty for UpStage Orange are:
Jessica Westcott (Opera Australia), Callan Purcell (Hamilton), Natalie Abbott (Muriel’s Wedding), Brittanie Shipway (Chess, The Voice), Stefanie Jones (Muriel’s Wedding, The Sound of Music), Billie Palin (HMS Pinafore), Christen Patinyotis (Sydney Dance Company) and Steve Martin (Sydney Theatre Company)
Sessions will include Performance Skills, Voice, Drama, Dance and the Business of Theatre. Younger performers (aged 8-14) will develop their confidence in age-appropriate, fun, collaborative performance classes while older performers (15-18) will participate in tailored, small-group sessions focused on building a career as a performing artist. All participants will get to create a group performance for parents that showcases the learning they’ve done throughout the day.

Toonworld – One Library, One Book- KIDS @ Orange Library

Learn how to create your own stop-motion claymation movie!

Join us at Orange City Library for an exclusive, hands-on workshop with animation experts Toonworld. Discover the exciting world of stop-motion animation and experience the magic of film production with this fun and interactive workshop.

This activity is recommended for children aged 8 and over. It is a perfect activity for families and friends to book as a small group.

Toonworld is touring as part of Central West Libraries’ One Library, One Book – KIDS project.  We are reading Fiona Hardy’s How to Make a Movie in 12 Days; the hilarious and heart-warming story of 11-year old Hayley and her friends and their adventures as they film a movie.

Bookings for Toonworld are essential and spaces are limited.

Science in the Kitchen – School Holiday Workshop

Explore scientific principles in the Library Kitchen – with slimy results!

Our STEM Kitchen experts have been busy developing a recipe for the gooiest, slipperiest, stickiest substance known to humanity and they want YOU to test it out in our Library Kitchen.

That’s right; it’s Slime Time, baby!

We will be exploring the scientific principle of chemical reactions and discovering just what it means to be a Non-Newtonian liquid. What a Gooey way to learn!

You definitely won’t be able to eat it; but you will be able to take it home.

One more thing, wear some old clothes, because this can get messy!

We are running two sessions of this activity:

  • Wednesday 7 April 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Monday 12 April 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
