Pop culture Trivia/ Lego building

Orange Youth  Hub will be hosting its second pop culture trivia for the holidays along with a Lego construction challenge on who can put it together in the quickest time. The Trivia will run via Zoom along with the Lego building competition. Participants must be above the age of 12 to enter the competition.

 

You must register the event so that Orange Youth Hub staff can drop off a bundle to help complete the Lego competition as well as be involved in the Zoom meeting online.

Orange Youth Hub – online eating competition

Orange Youth Hub are hosting an online eating competition that involves dry Weetabix, scotch finger biscuits and more. Orange Youth Hub will host the competition via Zoom and provide a timer for all contestants to participate and see who can finish the challenge the fastest. The event will take place on 24th September.

 

You must Register  before 23rd September to be a part of the competition to allow Orange Youth Hub staff to provide items to complete the tasks. Orange Youth Hub staff will be able to drop off  items to complete the event.

Pop culture Trivia/ Table Top Games

Orange Youth Hub are running a Pop culture trivia event  during the first day of the holidays from 11am – 1pm. The event will be run over zoom with Orange Youth Hub staff hosting the event. The Trivia will cover categories from gaming, sport, history, music, social media all relating from the past 10 years.

You must register for this event to be sent the Zoom link via Email. Please be in contact with [email protected] for the link. 

You must be 12 years old and above to enter the Trivia.

Resin Workshop – Resin Cheeseboard Workshop

Cheeseboard Resin Workshop 
Jo and Jed from well known Lil Blue Bird resin art, Jo is a self taught resin artist and Jed wood enthusiast from Orange will take you through the new BASIC class, its a quick one hour workshop where we introduce you to resin.
In this class you will make:
1 x serving platter (cheeseboard/paddle board)
We know people are time poor, so we thought how can we make this quicker and more affordable. This will be a streamlined class where everyone will do the same board but you choose the colours.
What will you get 
Create your very own resin and timber masterpieces using natural timber paddle boards
A Lil’ Blue Bird Apron, which will be yours to keep.
All materials, including an Acacia Wood Paddle Board or similar dependent upon stock availability.
An extensive range of pigments & colour additives to use. We provide all Safety equipment, mask, gloves, glasses. A discount on any purchases made on the day.

Closed in shoes required, please wear old clothes and long hair must be tied back.
Bring your friends and have a great afternoon getting creative together.
Please note: Resin needs to cure for 24hrs, we will arrange a time for you to collect your artwork.
Not suitable for pregnant women or under 16 years of age.
Avoid disappointment. Enrol early. (classes limited to 10-12 people)

Chalk it Up: The art of decorating writing slates (ages 5 – 18yrs)

Check out our fantastic local history exhibition ‘Inherit: old and new histories’ with our education team. Then have fun making your very own decorated writing slate to take home (also known these days as a chalkboard)

All art materials will be provided.

In conjunction with the exhibition ‘Inherit: old and new histories’.

All children under the age of 13yrs will need to be signed in/out by a parent/guardian.

Join us for a Summer Holiday treat that you can make all by yourself, under the expert instruction of our library culinary boffins.  We will be exploring the scientific principles of gas expansion (using popcorn) and melting points (using chocolate). What a delicious way to learn!

Children will be using chocolate and corn in this recipe. Parents whose children have food allergies must consider the appropriateness of this activity.

We are running three sessions of this activity:

  • Monday 4 January 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Monday 11 January 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Monday 18 January 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
