Two forums next week to keep community informed

Orange City Council’s strategy of keeping the community informed about key decisions and projects takes another step forward when two information events will be held in the same week.

On Monday evening an information forum will be held to provide details and answer questions about plans for the new stormwater wetland.

On Wednesday evening an information forum will be held to provide details and answer questions about the new draft annual budget.

Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said the information sessions were a chance for members of the community to ask questions and meet the experts on a range of different topics.

“Since Cr Tony Mileto put this idea forward to Council, there’s been a number of opportunities heId in recent months,” Cr Kidd said.

“These information sessions have been received well and I encourage anyone who would like to know more about specific topics to attend.

“Attendance at the forum on Wednesday regarding the 2021/2022 budget would be a good idea for anyone who is thinking of standing for election in September.”

The forum is on Wednesday afternoon is at 5.30pm in the Council Chambers. No need to RSVP.

The community is invited to come along to the forum and ask questions about any aspect of the council’s income-producing and spending plans.

Monday afternoon’s forum is for anyone interested in hearing more about a proposal to build a new wetland in East Orange, alongside Jilba Street and the Northern Distributor Road.

The Review of Environment Factors for the new wetland is now on public exhibition for community comment and the Council has begun a series of community meetings to explain details of the proposal.

A community forum will be held at Orange City Council Chambers at 5.30pm, Monday April 19. No need to RSVP. Council staff and external experts will be available to answer questions and provide more information on how the new wetland will complement our existing stormwater harvesting scheme.
