Work is under way on a three week project to reconstruct a busy intersection in Orange with a history of traffic accidents.
Orange City Council is building a raised platform across the intersection to boost safety by slowing down traffic.
The project began this week, when ‘road profiler’ equipment started work to remove the road surface and dig around 150 mm down.
The next stages involve the installation of a concrete and bitumen platform.
Weather permitting, the project will be completed by the end of January.
Electronic message boards are in place along with detour signs to move traffic around the closed intersection.
