Work commences on Shiralee Road upgrade

By August 27, 2019 August 30th, 2019 News, Roads

UPDATE Friday 9am: Shiralee Road will not be open to traffic this weekend, (August 31, September 1). Unfortunately road crews have hit some unexpected terrain in the road base, making it unsafe to open. The unexpected road base, coupled with the rain overnight means the road will remain closed until at least next weekend.

Despite road closures, access to Philip Shaw winery is still available via Pinnacle Road, and Council has been in contact with affected residents to ensure they are still able to enter and exit their properties.

Tuesday August 27:

A major upgrade of a 500 metre section of road located just around the corner from Philip Shaw winery, next to the new Southcrest housing estate is underway.

Council staff have today been busy removing the road in preparation to make way for the new planned changes. The road will be widened and the preliminary installation of storm water drainage systems is in full swing.

The upgrade will see new kerb and gutters installed along the edge that meets with the new housing development, along with new car parking spaces.

The project is set to be finalised in just eight weeks, weather permitting.
